Aachen University of Technology is a university located in the city of Aachen. It is considered one of the world’s leading technical universities and is one of the three largest universities in the Federal Republic of Germany in the field of engineering.
The business magazine “Wirtschaftswoche” regularly ranks RWTH Aachen University among Germany’s best universities in the fields of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and industrial engineering.

University rankings worldwide

In the ranking conducted by the magazine “Wirtschaftswoche,” around 500 human resources managers are surveyed each year to determine which university best prepares its students for the requirements of their company.
In recent years, the departments of industrial engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science and natural sciences at RWTH Aachen University have been evaluated, with the university consistently ranking among the top three.
Every three years, the German Research Foundation (DFG) publishes a funding atlas that ranks all German universities according to the funding they receive from the DFG.
Since only the best research projects are selected for funding, funding from the DFG is often considered a sign of quality. The DFG is therefore one of the most important sources of third-party funding for German universities, which is why RWTH Aachen University held the top spot in engineering for many years.

University rankings worldwide

The Times Higher Education World University Rankings (THE) are one of the world’s most respected university rankings.
The universities are evaluated based on thirteen different indicators from the areas of teaching, research, citations, industry revenue and international orientation.
In addition to assessing the reputation of scientists, the ranking also includes publication data and university data.
RWTH is represented in the subject rankings for engineering, physics, computer science and health.
The QS World University Rankings are among the most important university rankings in the world, and the overall score is largely based on an online reputation survey of academics and employers.
The subjects in which RWTH achieved the best results include mining engineering, mechanical engineering, materials science and chemical engineering.

The Center for Young Academics (CYA) is the central point of contact for information, career development, and networking for doctoral students, postdocs, and young researchers at RWTH Aachen University.
