How do I apply for the scholarship?
Based on the complete application documents, the awarding institution selects suitable students from the applications received. Based on their requirements, it decides whether to invite the student to a selection meeting or reject the application.

Required conditions
- Very good to very good in a bachelor's and/or master's degree program in a natural sciences subject or in medicine. Previously, very good to very good.
- Currently studying for a Master's, PhD, Medical or equivalent degree.
- Two letters of recommendation from national institutes, including current and/or former line managers.
- A letter from the host institute confirming acceptance and support of the applicant.
General eligibility
- To be considered for the Otto Bayer Fellowship for Drug Research, applicants must currently be pursuing a Master's or PhD degree (or equivalent) in natural sciences, pharmacy, or data science.
- To be considered for the Jeff Schell Fellowship in Agricultural Sciences, applicants must currently be pursuing a master's or PhD degree (or equivalent) in the physical sciences or data science.
- To be considered for a Carl Duisburg Fellowship in Medical Sciences, applicants must be studying human or veterinary medicine or hold a Master's or PhD degree (or equivalent) in biomedical engineering, applied medicine, public health, or data science in medicine.
- Students who do not reside in Germany must apply for a scholarship within Germany.
- Students residing in Germany must complete internships abroad.
