Introduction to Agile Management

Guest Researcher:

Mustafa Karahamad is currently working as a consultant at a local government office in Mainz, Germany. He is a PhD candidate at the Faculty of Social Sciences at Goethe University Frankfurt and a non-resident associate researcher at the Peace Research Institute Frankfurt (PRIF). Between 2021 and 2023, he served as a board member of the German-Syrian Research Society (DSFG e.V.). Karahamad is (co-)founder of several projects at DSFG, including the Academpower Scholarship and the Syrian Academic Compass. He is also the editor of the regularly published magazine Knowledge for Reconstructing Syria and currently serves as the Science Communication Officer of the Syrian Science Council.

Mustafa is a certified Scrum Master (from scrum.org) and has applied Agile methodologies in both public sector and non-profit settings.

 

Objectives of the Workshop:

Introducing agile methodology to early-career practitioners from and in Syria.

 

Targeted Audience:

  • Fourth-year students and recent graduates of management, social sciences, and humanities from Syrian universities.
  • Early-career practitioners in non-profits from Syria.
  • Language skills: Arabic, English preferred

 

Content of the Workshop:

  • Classical waterfall management.
  • Agile management, why is it necessary?
  • Scrum framework.
  • Typical agile projects and agile in non-profit.
  • Synchronic/asynchronic workflows.
  • Digital tools: communication, ticketing systems, and reporting.
