Beyond the Abstract
Beyond the Abstract is a monthly gathering for members of the DSFG community and anyone passionate about exploring intriguing research. It’s a space where we come together to critically appraise and discuss interesting research papers, share insights, and learn from one another in an open and supportive environment.
The Goals of Beyond the Abstract:
- Critical Appraisal: To develop and refine our skills in critically evaluating research papers, including their methodologies, findings, and implications.
- Knowledge Sharing: To share and discuss diverse research topics, fostering a deeper understanding of various approaches.
- Collaborative Learning: To create an interactive space where participants can ask questions, share doubts, and explore answers together.
- Community Building: To connect researchers and enthusiasts, building a network of individuals who support and learn from one another.
How It Works
Each month, a speaker presents a research paper of their choice, covering a wide range of topics in medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, psychology and neighboring fields. The selected papers could include innovative methodologies, interesting results or curious findings. The topics will also be in such a way selected that they don’t require a deep clinical background. A basic knowledge of evidence based medicine and biostatistics would be strongly recommended. The session is highly interactive, with participants encouraged to ask questions, share perspectives, and engage in lively discussions.
