 Dr. Aya Alwais

I am a doctoral researcher at the University of Bremen, researching the identity development of Syrians in Germany and Turkey, with a focus on social experiences, discrimination, tolerance, social relations, and social media usage. My work has been presented internationally at International Association for Cross-Cultural Psychology Congress 2024, as well winning the best presentation prize (humanities section) at ‘The First Arab Science Symposium in Germany’.

Previously, I completed a master’s degree in Digital Media and Society at the University of Bremen, where I explored the intersections of media, technology, and society. During my studies, I worked as a student assistant at ZeMKI and the Leibniz Institute for Media Research, gaining experience in media research and academic projects.

“I mentored a student who was seeking an MA program. I provided guidance on selecting programs, and refining research interests. It was an enriching experience to support the academic journey and future aspirations.”
