Grants and External Relations Officer
Volunteering (non-paid),4-6 Hours weekly

Core Requirements:

A Grants and External Relations Officer at the German-Syrian Research Foundation is expected to have the following Capabilities:

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., International Relations, Political Science, Business Administration, or related disciplines).
  • Prior academic research experience is required.
  • Strong motivation for research and communication, with a focus on grant writing and external relations.
  • Fluency in English (writing and speaking) is required; knowledge of German is an advantage.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple research and communication tasks simultaneously.

 

Skills Requirements:
  • Skilled in academic research methodologies, including gathering, analyzing, and synthesizing data for funding opportunities.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills in English (German is a plus) for drafting grant proposals, reports, and correspondence with funding organizations.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in managing various funding projects and external relations.
  • Ability to clearly communicate complex ideas to external partners and stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for engaging with external institutes, donors, and funding agencies.
  • Understanding of the grant application process, including experience with special funding schemes or grants.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and work under pressure.

 

Responsibilities:

as a Grants and external relations officer, you will oversee, plan and evaluate the following whereas execution will be handed over to the marketing team:

  • Research and identify funding opportunities, grants, and special funding schemes relevant to SALI’s initiatives and programs.
  • Communicate and build relationships with potential donors, institutes, and funding organizations to secure financial support.
  • Prepare and submit high-quality grant proposals, reports, and other relevant documentation to external stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain strong partnerships with external partners, including academic institutions and funding agencies.
  • Stay updated on funding trends, opportunities, and best practices in the grants field.
  • Work closely with the team to align funding efforts with organizational goals and project requirements.
  • Provide detailed reports on the status of funding applications and relationships with external partners.
  • Participate in strategy meetings to develop new funding strategies and improve external relations efforts.
  • Manage correspondence with donors and funding bodies, ensuring clarity and timeliness in all communications.
