Dr.Qussai Abbas

I am a PhD candidate in Bioinformatics at the Technical University of Munich, specializing in structural genome annotation and gene model prediction using proteogenomics and machine learning. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Sciences from Damascus University, where I received the student excellence award for four consecutive years, and a Master’s degree with excellence in Genetics and Biotechnology from Saint Petersburg State University. I am currently a member of the international doctoral program ‘The Proteomes That Feed the World’, and serve on the genome annotation committee at The European Reference Genome Atlas (ERGA).

“As a mentor in the DSFG Mentoring project, I assisted students with the application process for German universities and scholarships, offering guidance on documentation and deadlines. I supported mentees in exploring research areas, provided insights into academic culture, and introduced useful academic resources. I also held regular follow-up meetings to track progress and provide ongoing support.”
